Kelly Gall - Health & Clinical Psychologist.

BSc (hons), MPSYCH (Health), MClinPsych, MAPS, MCHP
Hi,

I'm Kelly Gall, a Health and Clinical Psychologist.  I have over 18 years experience within the profession and hold Masters degrees in both health and clinical psychology.  However, while these facts are important they are not enough to let you know whether I'm a good fit for you.

"Fit" is important

Finding someone who is a good fit for you is really important, it is a key component that determines therapeutic success. Figuring out whether someone is a good fit for you on the basis of their website must be a challenge!

Here is some information to help you to decide whether I have the attitude and approach that you are looking for.

My Bent? Your health = emotional + physical + social wellbeing

Your health is important to you, right?

Well, at Healthy Inside & Out that is my focus!

Health isn't just about being free of illness or injury, but about being healthy inside through being mentally and emotionally healthy and outside through our physical bodies, being socially connected and engaged in our lives.

Being physically healthy acts a bit like reinforcing to support your mental health.

Healthy Inside & Out provides psychological therapy, coaching and programs to help you to enhance your health and wellbeing, whatever your starting point. Your emotional, physical and social health is all interconnected.  When you have a challenged in any area it makes sense to consider each of these in moving you forward. Yet so many providers treat only the body or only the mind.

My mission is to work with you and your health professionals support you in achieving greater health, inside and out.

Abundance, Enjoyment and Sustainability

Fad diets, health kicks and short term improvements in looking after ourselves won’t achieve lasting change. I aim to help my clients find lifestyle changes that they not only tolerate but enjoy and sustain in their pursuit of better health.  I aim to leave my clients with tools and strategies to help them cope with unpleasant thoughts and feelings, now and in the future.

Being ‘balanced’ is important, good physical health in the absence of emotional health and fulfilling relationships is not health at all.  So if the idea of working on everything all at once seems overwhelming, don't worry.  All of my clients are at different points and have different priorities for moving forward, we will work with yours.

FAQ - What do your qualifications mean?

What "type" of Therapies do you use?

I have had training in a number of therapies, and tend to use those that fall within the ‘cognitive behavioural’ framework. This means that I tend to use approaches that address both how you think, and how you behave and through these achieve emotional change. I also tend to take a positive/strengths focused approach which moves people towards a better life.

I draw most heavily from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused (brief) Therapy (SFBT), and Motivational Interviewing. I also have a growing interest in Schema Therapy.

I frequently use behaviour change strategies to help my clients to break bad habits and improve their health.

Background

In addition to my current private practice I have also had experience in rehabilitation and psycho-oncology settings, having been privileged to intern with the Cancer Council's Cancer Counselling Service.

I have previously served as an Army psychologist, and have supported Australian Defence Force members on operations overseas. I continue to support current and ex-serving members in my private practice as well as first responders.

I also have more than five years working for the Commonwealth Public Service at an executive level.

I am a member of the Australian Psychological Society and its College of Health Psychologists; as well as a whole stack professional interest groups which allow me to keep up to date with advances in the fields of health, clinical and coaching psychology.
